Sue Houser is a native New Mexican whose roots run deep in the Estancia Valley, where she grew up on a pinto bean farm. After graduating from high school, she began her career as a legal secretary before following her passion for helping children. She earned a master’s degree in Counseling from the University of New Mexico and worked as a therapist, using art, play therapy, and sandtray therapy to help children express themselves, heal, and grow.
After retiring, Sue discovered that writing offered another meaningful way to connect with young readers. Through her stories, she hopes to inspire curiosity, foster understanding, and encourage children to appreciate the unique heritage of the Land of Enchantment.
Sue lives with her husband in the foothills of Albuquerque, where she enjoys hiking, traveling, practicing yoga, and exploring the natural beauty of the Southwest. She also loves collecting rocks, seashells, and—of course—books.
